Dennis Shaeffer

Dennis Shaeffer, 79, resident of Churchill, formerly of New Kensington, passed away February 5, 2026. Beloved husband of 47 years of Caroline Shaeffer and loving father of Jeffrey Shaeffer of South Carolina and Michael Shaeffer of Churchill. Special grandfather of Ethan Shaeffer of South Carolina and brother-in-law of George and Karen Tomich and Mary Ann (the late Nicholas) Tomich. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Brother of Paul Schaeffer (Sibby) of Arizona and son of the late Keith and Pauline Shaeffer. 

Dennis was a pharmacist for 40 years in various locations including Altoona, Squirrel Hill, Bloomfield and Palmer Drug in Russelton from which he retired in 2015. He was also a talented drummer who played with various bands for 53 years, the most recent being “Franky Carroll Orchestra”.

He was a Vietnam Veteran who was selected to attend the Navy School of Music then played in the Fort Lee Virginia Post Band and spent a year with the First Cavalry Division Ban in Vietnam. After discharge, he “fired his travel agent” (his own words). 

Denny who was known for his witty sense of humor, always had a joke and loved making people laugh.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, February 10, from 11:30am to 12:30pm. A Blessing Service will be held at 12:30pm with Full Military Honors to follow at the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., 201 Marguerite Ave, Wilmerding, Pa 15148, 412-824-4332. Dennis will be laid to rest privately at Grandview Cemetery, North Versailles.
